Founded by directors Tim and Mark, TIMARK Construction brings together decades of combined experience managing complex construction projects to exceptional standards. Before establishing their own company, Tim and Mark honed their expertise as site managers on major developments—from nine luxury four-storey townhouses built into a Clevedon clifftop, to a £15 million NHS healthcare facility delivered during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020, Tim and Mark decided it was time to take the leap and establish TIMARK Construction. Starting with no client base or active leads, the business grew organically through family connections, friendships, and—most importantly—word of mouth and social media. This authentic growth reflects the trust clients place in our work and the reputation we’ve built project by project.
Operating primarily across Somerset and the South West of England, TIMARK Construction delivers a wide range of services: civil engineering, residential builds, renovations, commercial projects, and extensions. Our portfolio demonstrates remarkable versatility—from bespoke garden buildings and complete property refurbishments to critical infrastructure projects. What unites every project is our unwavering commitment to quality craftsmanship, clear communication, and exceeding client expectations.

Our Core Values

At the heart of TIMARK Construction are five core values that guide every project:
Customer Focus – Your vision drives every decision. We listen carefully, understand your needs, and tailor our approach to deliver exactly what you want.

Transparency – Honesty in everything. From realistic timelines to upfront pricing, we believe in straightforward dealing that builds lasting trust.

Director

Mark Atkinson

Mark Atkinson is a Director at Timark Construction, bringing more than 25 years of hands-on experience across multiple sectors of the construction industry. After completing a Fine Art degree at the University of Plymouth, Mark began his construction career in June 1999 as a labourer on the Exeter to Honiton Bypass project with Balfour Beatty.
Driven to broaden his knowledge, Mark gained experience across a wide range of disciplines, including concrete finishing, railways, groundworks, and multi-trade roles. His ability and work ethic saw him progress rapidly to ganger and supervisory positions within three years, before moving into site management by 2006.
Throughout his career, Mark has led and delivered numerous complex projects. Notably, he acted as Lead Manager for IKON Construction on sites based at RAF Brize Norton and later worked on high-end, mid-sized residential developments. It was during a particularly challenging project in Clevedon — the construction of nine four-storey townhouses built into a cliff face — that Mark met Tim. Their shared approach and complementary skill sets quickly developed into a strong professional partnership.

Although their paths briefly diverged, with Tim focused on commercial projects and Mark on residential developments, they later reunited while working on an NHS accommodation block in Yeovil. It was here that the first conversations about starting their own company took place, ultimately leading to the creation of Timark Construction.
Mark has never lost touch with his artistic background and regularly draws on his creative eye when reviewing plans and designs. This allows him to help clients visualise projects, refine layouts, and achieve designs that are both practical and aesthetically considered. His artistic mindset also brings patience, focus, and objectivity to every project he undertakes.
Alongside his professional career, Mark has dedicated time to volunteering. In his early twenties, he served with the Royal Wessex Yeomanry in the Territorial Army and later became an Adult Instructor with the Army Cadet Force, where he was Detachment Commander of Glastonbury Platoon. In this role, he taught leadership, respect, empathy, and the core values and standards of the British Armed Forces.
Outside of work, Mark is a devoted family man with six children, one grandchild, and a cocker spaniel named Arlo, who keeps him busy when he’s not on site.

Director

Tim Rawles

Tim began his career in the construction industry in 2002, starting a brickwork apprenticeship with national contractor Pearce Construction. Over the years, he worked his way up through the ranks — from apprentice to Senior Site and Project Manager — gaining hands-on experience and a deep understanding of how quality projects are delivered from the ground up.
In 2014, Tim joined Midas Construction, where he managed a range of large-scale developments. By 2017, he transitioned into self-employment as a Senior Manager and Project Manager, delivering public-sector projects across the country within the defence, education, and healthcare sectors, with individual project values reaching up to £20 million.
Outside of work, Tim enjoys playing golf both at home and abroad, as well as taking long walks with his family and their Labrador, Luna.

Our Accreditations & Training

At Timark, we believe that quality, safety, and professionalism should never be an afterthought. That’s why we hold two of the most respected accreditations in the construction industry — Federation of Master Builders (FMB) membership and SafeContractor certification — and ensure our team remains fully trained and up to date through the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

Federation of Master Builders (FMB)

As a proud member of the Federation of Master Builders, Timark has been independently assessed and verified to meet the FMB’s rigorous standards of quality and workmanship. The FMB is the UK’s largest trade association for small and medium-sized construction companies, and membership is only awarded to builders who pass a thorough vetting process — including site inspections, insurance checks, and trading history reviews.

For our clients, this means peace of mind. When you choose Timark, you’re choosing a builder who has been independently verified, who operates to a professional code of conduct, and who is committed to delivering high-quality work on every project.

CITB Training

At Timark, we invest heavily in training to ensure our team has the knowledge and skills to work safely and professionally on every site. Both Tim and Mark hold the following qualifications, all completed through the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB):

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) — one of the most widely recognised site management qualifications in the UK, covering health, safety, welfare, and environmental legislation on construction sites.
First Aid at Work — ensuring a fully qualified first aider is always present on site, ready to respond quickly and effectively in an emergency.
Scaffold Awareness and Appreciation — giving us the knowledge to identify safe and unsafe scaffolding, understand load limits, and ensure scaffolding on our sites meets the required standards.
PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association) — certifying the safe assembly, use, and dismantling of mobile access towers, a key piece of equipment on many of our projects.

Safe Contractor Certified

Timark holds Safe Contractor certification — a nationally recognised, UKAS-accredited standard that demonstrates our commitment to health & safety, sustainability, and ethical compliance.

Safe Contractor is one of the UK’s leading contractor certification schemes and a founding member of SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement). Certification is not simply granted — it requires contractors to be assessed against strict criteria covering health and safety practices, environmental responsibility, and modern slavery compliance.

What this means for you as a client:

You’re protected. Our certification means we proactively identify and manage risk on every project, reducing the likelihood of accidents, delays, or legal complications.
We stay compliant. Regulations change constantly. Our SafeContractor certification ensures we remain fully up to date, so you don’t have to worry about whether your contractor is working within the law.
You’re working with a trusted partner. SafeContractor works with over 450 hiring organisations and 37,000 contractors across every industry. Our certification signals to clients, insurers, and partners that Timark operates to the highest standards.
We’re committed to better ways of working. Certification isn’t a one-off achievement — it reflects our ongoing dedication to safe, sustainable, and responsible construction practices that benefit our clients, our team, and the wider community.

Why It Matters

In an industry where standards vary widely, accreditation and training cut through the noise. Choosing a certified and qualified contractor like Timark means you’re not taking a chance but you’re making an informed decision backed by independent verification and proven expertise.

We don’t just build. We build with confidence, accountability, and pride.
